The Special CBI court on Wednesday convicted a dismissed branch manager under a corruption case and sentenced him with two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.15,000.

The convict,N Sridhar, branch manager with Pragati Gramina bank of Chelur branch had demanded Rs. 5,000 from CV Ravi,a farmer from Doddaballapur to sanction crop loan amounts to Rs.92,000.

Sridhar also demanded Rs.2,500 from Ravi’s friend Narayana Reddy to sanction a loan amount of Rs. 44,000.

Unable to pay the bribe,Ravi approached the Lokayukta and filed a complaint in December 2012.

Based on the complaint, the Lokayukta sleuths recorded the conversation between the accused branch manager and the farmer before laying a trap and caught him red handed while accepting the bribe.

Since the accused was central government employee, the case was transferred to CBI for further investigations.

The CBI filed a charge sheet before the court along with the scientific evidence and statements of the witness.

Arguing the case,Public Prosecutor,Shivananda Perla, contended that accused Sridhar had withheld the sanctioned loan amount for one and half months to get the bribe amount he had demanded .

He also presented the documentary evidence and scientific evidence considered by Judge E Chandrakala.
