Guntur (Nehrunagar), Newstoday: A student’s attempt to cover up a mistake made at home without their knowledge left her father with a loss of Rs 16 lakh. Akanga tried to sell her kidney online and luckily escaped unscathed. The victim from Firangipura, who is studying second year inter in Guntur, and her father lodged a complaint with SP Arif Hafeez on Monday. Later he spoke to the reporters. The matter is in her words… ‘My father gave me his cell if I wanted a phone. In it, my father’s bank account is linked to the phone. She spent Rs. 80 thousand to buy clothes and watches without his knowledge. Even if dad wants to deposit the money back into the account before he finds out. I searched online after my friends told me that I can get money by selling my kidney. I saw on a site that I urgently need a kidney, and if I sell it, I will get Rs.7 crores. It contains the photo, phone number, email address and name of the hospital of a doctor named Praveenraj. Praveenraj answered the phone number when contacted. He said that if he agrees to sell the kidney, he will pay Rs.3.50 crore first and the remaining money after the operation. I agreed and underwent the medical tests he suggested and mailed the details. He said that everything is fine… he will pay the first installment. As I did not have an account, my father took the account details. He took a screen shot of depositing Rs.3.50 crores and WhatsApped it. Balance is not shown on check. If asked if this is the case… He said that to convert dollars into Indian currency, he has to pay tax and deposit Rs.15 thousand to his bank account. I paid the phone. He took Rs. 16 lakhs from March to October with such tricks. He suspiciously deposited Rs.10 thousand in my father’s account. Remaining Rs.3. He believed that 50 crores would be deposited like this. I sent a mail asking for my money back. He told me that he will give me if he comes to Delhi, so I went by plane. When I called, I did not get any response. So I returned by plane. He said that if another Rs.1.50 lakh is deposited, the total amount will be deposited. She explained that I was convinced that he had cheated me. She ran away from home fearing that her father would find out about it. When the father complained that his daughter was missing, the police investigated.
