VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATIONS AT ALBERT EKKA WAR MEMORIAL ON 16 DECEMBER 2022

The swift and decisive offensive launched by Indian Armed Forces 51 years ago
culminated with surrender of 93,000 Pakistani troops at Dhaka on 16 December 1971 and birth of a new sovereign nation Bangladesh. The war also gave freedom to Bangla people from tyranny and oppression of Pakistani Forces. This historic day is being celebrated every year as “Vijay Diwas” in India and “Bijoy Dibos” in Bangladesh.

To commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of those who participated in the 1971 War, a major comprehensive event has been planned on 16 December 2022 at ALBERT EKKA WAR MEMORIAL.

The day will commence with a Wreath Laying Ceremony at War Memorial at 09:00 am to pay homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. Later, a Cultural Evening will be organised at the Amphitheatre of the War Memorial. Red Shield Artillery Brigade is conducting the event and it is being organised alongwith Tripura Government and Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala. The event will commence at 05:00 pm and is open for general public.

Professor (Dr) Manik Saha, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura is likely to attend the function as Chief Guest. In addition, Mr Sushanta Choudhary, Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs, Mr Arif Mohammad, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala, senior officials from state administration, Indian Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF and war veterans of 1971 war will also attend these functions.

The event will showcase rich history and heritage of Tripura and bond shared between people of Tripura and Bangladesh. During the program, Chief Guest will felicitate 1971 war veterans and school children who bagged prizes in a Painting Competition organized for children on 11 Dec 2022 to commemorate this historic day.
