Steps to re-build Kittur Fort; Rs 100 crore released for development of Kittur Town; double grants for mega drama: CM Bommai

The state government is committed to the overall development of Kittur town which included the rebuilding of the Kittur fort and the conservation of documents.

Dharwad Rangana has recreated history through a mega drama on Veera Rani Kittur Chennamma and made everyone feel proud, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking after inaugurating a mega drama ‘Veera Rani Kittur Chennamma’ organised by Dharwad Rangayana and District Administration in KCD premises on Saturday,he said remembering Rani Chennamma will thrill him.

Before Jhansi Ran Laxmibai,Rani Chennamma launched the first independence struggle against the British and fought against the British empire.

With a little army, she waged a war on the Britishers.This drama has been directed by Ramesh Paravinaikar,director of Dharwad Rangayana.

The Dharwad repertory must stage this drama all over the State to introduce the life and achievements of Rani Chennamma.

The CM said the government has taken up the rebuilding of Kittur Fort and spent Rs 100 crore on the overall development of Kittur.

It has been decided to give double the grant for the mega drama of Kittur Chennamma to Dharwad Rangayana in order to encourage such mega productions.

Dharwad MLA Arvind Bellad complimented Dharwad Rangayana for selecting Rani Chennamma for the mega drama to highlight the first queen to launch the first independence struggle against the Britishers.

In Marathi,a drama on Shivaji Maharaja called ‘Janata Raj’ was staged to tell the people on the adventures of the great Maratha warrior.

Gadag-Dambal Thontadarya Mutt’s Dr Siddarama Mahaswamiji, Hukkeri Hiremath’s Sri Chandrashekara Shivacharya Swamiji, Kittur Chennamma Rajaguru Samasthan Kalmutt’s Madiwala Rajayogindra Mahaswamiji, Murugha Mutt’s Sri Mallikarjun Mahaswamiji, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and others were present.
