Abhijit Ray, Kolkata :A 91-year-old man from USA  was robbed of nearly $86,000 by cybercriminals of Kolkata. Unable to bear this emotional trauma, the man finally committed suicide in depression. The US intelligence agency FBI came to know the information while investigating this suicide case. The name of Calcutta came up in the FBI investigation. Kolkata Police was given a suspect list of 11 people by Interpol.Among them, a person named Shizan Ali Haider of Beniyapukur was identified by the officials of Lalbazar Cyber ​​Police Station. The arrested youth confessed the crime. He was brought to Bankshalcourt on Wednesday, the judge ordered him to be remanded in police custody till January 13. Officials of the US Embassy may also hold a meeting with Lalbazar detectives in view of the cyber criminals of this city being accused in the death of an American citizen.According to the police, the young man named Shijan chose the 91-year-old American resident as his victim before Mas Khan. He called her using a spoofing app called ‘Text Now’. One can keep his mobile number secret through that app. A young man offers to sell an important piece of software to an old man, which will be of use to him. The software is not very expensive. But he manipulates the decimals online. Convince the old man that he trusts him.According to the police, the accused Shijan chose the 91-year-old American resident as his victim before one month. He called the USA man using a spoofing app called ‘Text Now’.  While using this app, one can keep his/her mobile number secret through that app. Shijan offers to sell an important piece of software to the victim and told him that the software is not very expensive. Somehow, Shijan manipulates the amounts decimals online. He was able to convince the victim. Shijan had stolen 85 thousand 786 dollars from the old man’s bank account by rigging the price in the name of selling software. Its value in Indian rupees is not less than 71 lakh rupees. But due to the spoofing app, the victim did not even get the whereabouts of the accused.When the victim came to know that he was being cheated, he fell into depression. In the end, the lonely old American man committed suicide. US police recovered his body. The US police came to know about this cyber fraud during the investigation. The FBI came to know through investigation that it was done through a spoofing app and the phone that came from Kolkata. The number of 11 persons was sent to Kolkata Police through National Central Bureau and Interpol. Cyber ​​Police of Lalbazar filed a case in this matter.The detectives started the investigation and identified three people who had recently called toUSA from Kolkata using the ‘Text Now’ app. This time, the person who called the old American citizen was identified based on the date and time. On Tuesday night, sleuths arrested Shizan from inside a cafe on Kushtia Road in Taapsia to set up a trap. He claimed that the young man, a B.Com pass from a reputed college in Kolkata, worked in fake call centers and dabbled in cyber fraud.
