After taking up the modernization works, the rent of rooms in some of the recently opened hostels has increased drastically. They provided facilities like AC and geyser and increased the rent. There are about 6000 rooms in Tirumala. The prices of hostels like Nandakam, Panchajanyam, Kaustubham and Vakulamata, which are already available to middle class people in Tirumala, have been increased from Rs.500, Rs.600 to Rs.1000.
