The Amrutahalli police on Sunday arrested trustee of Lakshmi Narasimha temple for assaulting a woman devotee inside the temple on December 21.
The accused Munikrishna was assaulted the victim Hemavathy and dragged her out by pulling her hair which was recorded in the CCTV footage and later went viral on social media led to public outcry.
Meanwhile the victim filed a complaint with the police led to the arrest of the accused,a police officer said.
Munikrishna in his defense told the police that Hemavathy behaved unruly after entering the temple and accused her that she claimed to be wife of god wanted to sit next to the idol.she spat on the priest who was present at the time and objected to her behavior.
Munikrishna also said that the woman after few days returned to the temple and apologized for her behaviour and later filed a complaint when the issue went viral.
