The Jayanagar traffic police on Monday arrested a 26-year-old businessman who was moving around in his SUV with fake designation plate to throw his weight around.
The accused has been identified as,Zaffar Iqbal a resident of HSR layout a businessman by profession.
Senior officer told reporters,The accused Zaffar Iqbal,resident of HSR Layout was caught along with his car following direction from the city police Commissioner.
A team of police led by Srinivasamurthy BG from Jayanagar traffic police track down the accused through the car registration number and arrested him.
The accused was carrying a Human Rights Logo along with the designation plate containing “International Human Rights and Crime Control,Govt of India”.
Misusing the name of the government for his personal gain.The accused did not gave any response on why he was carrying,Srinivasmurthy,in his complaint to the HSR Layout police, said .
The accused along wit his car has been handed over to the HSR Layout police who charged him under cheating and impersonation.
Kuldeep Kumar R Jain,DCP, traffic West Division,warned motorists against misuse any government logo and demanded special drive to check on faulty number plates.
He even said a surprise drive against the defaulters is going on for hiding,or removing number plate of covering it up with chewing gum or with stickers to violate traffic rules and hoodwink cops is continuously going on from past four months around 100 defaulters have been identified and fined across West Division.
We have formed special squads to check on this a special drive is going as and when we get information from responsible citizen our team rushes to spot and wheel clamp the vehicle and once the rider comes we take them to police station and issue a police notice and ask them to furnish why they have removed number plate and a Surety bond of Rs.100 should be collected from these defaulters and the outstanding fine amount should be collected.
He even said that our cops will be on rounds and they will identify the bikes which are altered with number plate on roads,streets they will clamp your vehicle if it is in parking or any roadside as per rules when you take your bike out or park anywhere number plate should be compulsorily fixed on both sides if not the defaulters vehicle will be wheel clamped and after thorough inquiry the said vehicles will be released as per procedure.
Recently Rajajinagar traffic cops received information from our informant that a vehicle is parked near Rama Mandir with no number plate in the rear side within minutes the Cobra staffs as,Prasanna,Maheshwarappa,who are very pro-active to curb this menace rushed to spot with ASI,Govind Rao and other staff and when they checked the rider had pending fines amount of Rs.75,000 and to avoid challans and hoodwink cops he did this says Netizens on twitter and appreciation were flown on twitter and other social media platforms from all corners.
