s many as 50 night beat policemen attached to Southeast Division will be equipped with body-worn cameras as another step towards image makeover and to bring transparency in their service .

This is to ensure accountability and bring transparency as the policemen on duty besides work pressure have to suffer allegations at numerous level .

This much needed technology would help to resolve disputes from all levels and be better defense for the policemen, Senior officer told reporters.

A senior police officer have been asked to brief the men on ground zero on how to use and operate the cameras .

The policemen on duty have been asked to switch on the cameras through out duty hours and record whenever they question or talk to people .

The recording would work in two ways while gathering the evidence for any eventuality and also prove documentary evidence in case of any dispute .

The Southeast Division which had launched QR code at every station to improve the service at the station level also set up libraries at all the 14 police stations in their Division.

This is to improve the police public relationship in better way and also improve accountability and transparency among the policemen.

Recently,a Marathahalli based tech firm employee accused the night beat police of misbehaving with him on the pretext of Inquiry.

While the inquiry revealed that the night beat policemen questioned him for behaving suspiciously and also carrying a pepper spray in the car.

The techie in question later wrote a complaint on social media tagging senior police officials questioning the behaviour of the police.

This has not only attempted to bring disrepute to the policemen on duty but also demorolize policemen at work .

Now with body cameras in place the night beat policemen can work more confidently as there are less scope for such mischief in future,a senior officer told reporters.
