Construction labour and his associate arrested by Raichur Railway police& RPF Police Recovered stolen property worth Rs.18.8 Lakhs

In a joint operation the railway police with the help of their Railway Protection Force counterparts arrested two people and recovered nine bikes and gold valuables worth Rs.18.8 lakh which they had stolen from railway passengers.

The accused has been identified as,Vikram Armugam, 20,a construction labourer turned thief and his associate Mukhtam sab, 22 from Raichur town.

Senior officer told reporters the duo confessed the crime and it was revealed that they used to move in train identifying gullible passengers to rob valuables.

The duo had stolen a handbag belonging to Padmavathy Kulkarni while she was travelling from Kalyan to Bengaluru in Udyan express,containing 211 grams of gold valuables worth Rs.10.8 lakh.

Based on the complaint,a team of police track down the accused through CCTV footage and with the help of local intelligence and arrested them.

The duo have been remanded to judicial custody she added.
