hief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he will issue directions to instal the statues of Sangolli Rayanna and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in every government college in the State.
Speaking at the 192nd rememberance day of Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna organised by Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna Foundation here on Thursday,he said their children must know who really sacrificed their lives for the freedom.
They must involve in finding out of forces that will inspire children.A decision regarding naming the Belagavi Airport after Sangolli Rayanna will be taken after taking everyone into confidence.
India is safe as long as the spirit of Sangolli Rayanna will remain.The country will be benefited even if they do one or two good deeds done by Rayanna.
They had said if one Sangolli Rayanna is hanged Sangolli Rayanna will born in every house.Forty five years ago before India’s first freedom struggle it was Kittur Rani Chennamma had waged a war against the Britishers.
Had they not fought against the Britishers the country would not have gained independence so soon.Their adventurous stories must be told to children.We must understand that the country will have a bright future if they stay united”.
Still amidst us
The CM said Sangolli Rayanna is still alive amidst them and he has remained with them even after his death. Rayanna has been the source of inspiration for his bravery and adventure.
As part of remembrance,the Bengaluru Railway Station has been named after Sangolli Rayanna and it will be a good idea to have his statue.
There was a small fight even for the installation of this statue.Many others including Vatal Nagaraj and Revanna have worked together in this endeavour.
A hostel is being constructed at a cost of Rs.184 crore and as per the request a sainik school has been started. Many more will come up.
The sainik school will produce more number of brave soldiers like Sangolli Rayanna. Besides,a memorial in Nandghad,rock garden and museum are being constry.
Foundation stone has been laid to install the statues of Sangolli Rayanna and Kittur Rani Chennamma in front of Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi.
Supreme patriot
Bommai said Rayanna was a supreme patriot and he launched the first freedom struggle in the whole country along with Kittur Rani Chennamma. t is their duty to remember him. Rayanna was born on August 15 and hanged on January 26.
These are two sacred days in the country.Perhaps, Rayanna had the blessings of God because of which he was brave, adventurous and patriot.Though he was born in the ordinary family he was blessed with self-respect since child.
He stood with Chennamma and fought against the Britishers and won the battle.However,he lost the second battle due to cheating. But still he assembled the people,built a small army and fought against the Britishers.
Only Rayanna and Shivaji Maharaj knew well how to face the big army with a small army.After Rayanna was caught, he was hanged in Nandhgad so that another Rayanna must not born.
