he Malleshwaram police on Monday arrested a 50-year-old auto rickshaw driver for stealing cash Rs.1.5 lakh from a passenger on January 24.
The accused Rangaswamy was riding along with the passenger from Gandhi Bazar to Malleshwaram and stopped the vehicle for a while on roadside as the passenger got down to go to the homeopathy clinic for consultation.
Rangaswamy saw the cash bag left in the backseat and sped away.
Based on the complaint,the police team checked the CCTV footage from in and around, and track down the autorickshaw driver and arrested him .
Probe reveal that the accused confessed that he had borrowed huge amount of loan and unable to repay loan so he stole the cash to clear the debts said a senior officer.
