n a tragic incident a 47-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter crushed to death when a cement laden concrete mixer truck toppled on them on Bannerghatta main road on Wednesday.
The deceased Gayathri Kumar,47,employee with a IT company was driving the car to drop her daughter Samatha Kumar,15 to Sherwood school where she was studying 10th standard.
Senior officer told reporters that Gayathri,wife of Sunil Kumar, an IT professional was living in a residential apartment in Kaggalipura .
The incident occurred at around 8.30 am when the victims are heading to the school the truck carrying cement load was moving in rash and negligent manner on Byalada marada doddi on Bannerghatta road .
The driver while negotiating a slight curve lost balance and the truck toppled on the car crushing the duo.
Passers-by rushed to the spot but they could not pull out the victims trapped and alerted the police.
Sensing trouble the driver fled the scene.The Bannerghatta police rushed to the spot and with the help of crane and JCB removed the cement load before pulling out the bodies from the crushed car.
The bodies were shifted to the hospital,while the police pulled the truck to road side to allow the traffic movement.
Traffic on the busy road was disrupted for sometime. The Bannerghatta police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving,death due to negligence against the truck driver and efforts are on to track him down.
