The special court of CBI Cases Bangalore has convicted former postman SN Kumar charged under Prevention of Corruption Act and for cheating misappropriation and criminal breach of trust and sentenced with four years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs.46,75,000.
Delivering the sentence judge E Chandrakala ordered that out of the total fine amount collected a sum of Rs. 46,61,341/- ordered to be given to Post Office,which belonged to the depositors and the amount the accused has misused .
The Special Public prosecutor, said that SN Kumar, postmaster with a Grameen Dak Sevak Branch in Sugatur,Kolar district,allegedly accepted the amount from the account holders and depositors in March 2012 to Feb 2016 but did not credit in their accounts.
The accused even misguided the depositors by issuing fake entries and receipts of the amount he had received and spent the money on vices .
Based on the complaint the CBI arrested Kumar and filed charge sheet before the court.The prosecution examined 104 witnesses and arguments were proved Kumar guilty.
