Parents aspired their son to make a lawyer, while he wanted to be in the hospitality industry.Unable to bear the pressure from parents,a 21-year-old student from a city based reputed college ran away from college creating panic among the parents and the police .
The Sudduguntepalya police swung into action and maintaining their track record,traced the student in Kerala within 48 hours and reunited with his family on Thursday.
The victim,Utkarsh,from Jharkhand was admitted to law course in a private college out of compulsion from parents though he wanted to study hotel management, CK Baba,DCP,Southeast Division, who supervised the entire operation,told reporters.
Utkarsh failed in the first sem and did not want to pursue further but his family kept insisting to complete the course..
Unable to take the pressure,K.Utkarsh ran away from college after messaging his family members about his decision on February 4.
Shocked family members tried to reach him but his phone was switched off.The family rushed to Bengaluru and checked with the college and CCTV showed that he left the library of the college on Feb 4 in the afternoon,went around CBD area before tying his ID card to the footbridge near Sophia high school on Feb 5.
Based on the missing complaint,the police tried to track down his phone but it was switching on and off repeatedly .
However the police began to track him to Mysuru, Palakkad and reached Alappy where he stayed in a Ashram.
Before getting into the Ashram the Utkarsh switched on the phone to transfer money online to a shop keeper person to get a cash in return from him.
This gave a major clue for the police who traced the shopkeeper from him finally track down Utkarsh.The family members and the police heaved a sigh of relief and he was reunited with the family.
High expectation of parents on their children coupled with academic pressure without understanding their ability led to increased stress among the children forcing them to take extreme step .
Parents should extend unconditional support, love and care needed for the children at every level,Mr. Baba, said.
