Electrician turned thief arrested by Jayanagar police recovered stolen gold ornaments Worth Rs.18 lakhs

T he Jayanagar police on Thursday arrested a 53-year-old electrician for allegedly stealing 300 grams of gold ornaments and cash Rs.40,000 from his relative’s house on Sunday .

The accused has been identified as,Ramesh L,resident of Vishweshwaraiah Layout in Kengeri.

Based on the complaint,the Jayanagar police inspector and his crime team swung into action and arrested him charging him under theft.

The complainant,Prakash,KS in his complaint said that he left home around 8.30 am for work and received a call from his neighbour and cousin Ramakrishna an hour later that the front door was open.

Prakash rushed to his residence and found the door or lock was not broken upon checking the house he found that the bag containing 300 grams of gold,and cash was missing.

The Jayanagar inspector and JP Nagar Inspector,who probe the matter zeroed in on Ramesh who visited Prakash house and took a spare key from Prakash’s residence six months ago and kept it back after he got a duplicate key.

He stole the cash and gold using the duplicate key after watching Prakash ‘s daily routine the accused said during interrogation.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
