free entry for the rehearsal session of the aero-show free entry led to unexpected crowd with 12,000 vehicles on the busy airport road disrupted traffic movement for sometime on Saturday.
Commuters travelling towards airports struck on the road due to heavy traffic pile-ups,while the traffic police struggled hard to decongest the vehicles stranded on the road due to overflow of the parking lot .
One of the main reasons for the traffic jams is said to be due to the illegal parking of vehicles on the highway to catch a glimpse of the Air Show rehearsals.
Adding to the worst heavy vehicles carrying defense personnel and their family members parked on the road due overflow of the designated parking lot .
It was an unexpected crowd on with 25,000 people gathered at the rehearsal venue which is free show and the vehicles started pile up.
Many vehicles parked on the flyovers to catch the glimpses of the flits taking off,which led to traffic slow down and pile up of traffic.
Additional police personnel have been deployed to ensure decongestion of vehicle and ensure free flow of traffic .
Police closed some flyovers to clear the traffic while diverting the traffic to the adjacent roads,Mic,radio and twitter and social media to information commuters to reach the airport .
Luckily the flights at the airport has been rescheduled , otherwise situation would have worsened,a senior police officer,said .
The taking a lesson from Saturday chaos,traffic police officials said that the elevated road on Bellary Road from Esteem Mall will be closed for all types of vehicles between 8.00 am to 11.30 a.m.
On Monday in view of the inauguration and vehicles only with valid passes for Aero India Show are allowed.
The traffic police said that People going towards Yelahanka and adjoining areas may take service road below the elevated road.
People going to KIAL may take alternate roads from Hennur Junction to reach International Airport,the official release,said .
