40% reduction in premises recruitment
Some IT companies do not conduct selections
pending results and others
prefer special skills of candidate
Today, Amaravati: Economic recession… IT companies’ job cuts have affected freshers’ recruitment. Uncertainty has arisen in the premises appointments this year. Some major organizations do not undertake actual premises recruitment. Mainly from August to January the recruitments are going on. 2022-23 are almost over. IT recruitment increased after Corona. Due to this, the colleges have also given mostly IT related courses this year. Core engineering courses like mechanical, civil, electronics and electrical have been reduced. In the current situation, some people are getting fired. It is likely to continue in 2023-24 as well, said Srinivas, the campus recruitment officer of one of the engineering colleges. Compared to last year, regular recruitments have reduced by up to 40%, while large package salaries have reduced by up to 60%. Some software companies have conducted tests for students, while others have completed oral tests but the results have not been disclosed. TCS conducted the oral tests and set aside the results of some. Cognizant conducts some placements only in the colleges with which they have agreements. Wipro has never conducted a national talent hunt till now. Infosys did not conduct a fool drive. The recruitment has been reduced. No announcement has been made as to when InfitiQ will be held. While IBM has conducted big package recruitments in some colleges, Tech Mahindra and DXC Technology companies have not taken up large recruitments in the state. Companies like Capgemini and Mindtree have reduced hiring compared to the past. Some recruitments are done in autonomous colleges, reputed institutes and contractual institutes. Cognizant has set aside some of the hires it made last year. Organizations follow the policy of hiring in small quantities first and then making decisions based on the situation. There are opportunities in electronics.. Starting salary is low. Mechanical students have opportunities in automobile. Experts revealed that there are opportunities for mechanical students if they learn courses like IOT, robotics and AI. Some mechanical people are also trying to move towards IT. Skills should be increased..
Infosys dismissed 600 freshers who did not perform properly after training. After getting the appointment, the internship and other trainings given by the companies should be completed skillfully, according to the recruitment officials. Those who do not get jobs should complete certificate courses in companies like Amazon Web Services and Salesforce and improve their skills. Experts suggest that it is better to do projects like problem solving, digital technology projects, artificial intelligence, data science and Internet of Things. It is revealed that colleges should continue project-based learning for students who are currently not getting jobs and encourage students for industry certification. It is stated that the students should be involved in the job competitive exams and internships should be increased.
Worried about the new ones with layoffs..
Top companies give preference to those who have completed special projects and certificate courses along with academics. At the end of January, Google announced that it was laying off 12,000 employees globally. Microsoft fired 10 thousand, Amazon 18 thousand, Meta 11 thousand people. Swiggy laid off 380 people. It is reported that Dell Technologies is also likely to lay off 6,000 people. While many companies are settling with what they took last year, some companies are showing a tendency to wait.
2008 conditions are visible
– P. Venkatarao, President, AP Training and Employment Officers Federation
2008 situation is seen again in IT jobs. Those who do not get jobs in premises recruitment should improve their skills before completing B.Tech. Colleges should also conduct internships, projects and involve students in recruitment competitive exams. As the current situation is likely to continue for some time, only those with skills will get jobs. Core engineering recruitments like mechanical and civil are not affected much.
