A 62-year-old social activist attacked and his face was blackened with tar by a group of activists for complaining to remove flag post put up on the footpath in doddapete on Thursday.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim, Umashankar , the city market police registered a case against Srinivasa and his associates charging them under Wrongful restrain , assault, criminal force to dishonour any person and Unlawful assembly.
Umashankar in his complaint said that he had made several complaints to BBMP for removal of flag post on the behest of his friend Rajesh, A businessman.
Rajesh who was out of station called Umashankar and told him to go to Doddapete circle to check about bbmp official visit.
When he went to check, Srinivasa and others confronted him and started hurling abuses accusing him for complaining..
When Umashankar tried to reason, the accused assaulted him and poured tar on him..
Umashankar managed to escape and later complained.There were many people and even bbmp officials did not come to his rescue, he said in his complaint.
On the next day the city market police traced and arrested the accused Srinivas alias Auto Seena and are investigating further to ascertain the reason behind the act.
Sources said a person who used to drive auto rickshaw in the same circle has now turned as Pro Kannada activist,and after assaulting he blackened his face by pouring Tar or black ink on social activist face and assaulted him torn his clothes and thrashed him.
After assaulting the social activist when cops arrested him he is playing now a victim card by shooting a video and asking all the organisation to come forward for his support as he defends his act and playing a vicitm card said a senior officer.
