T he State Cabinet has given approval for the drinking water scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission for Belur-Arsikere taluks and this is the biggest gift of the government for the development of Belur taluk,said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Addressing a public meeting here on Tuesday in Belur of Hassan district in which BJP National President J.P.Nadda participated,he said the work on Halebid-Madalli Lift Irrigation Scheme was started during the tenure of Chief Minister BS.Yediyurappa and now it has been completed.
The government has done the job of providing water to drought-hit areas and also approved the Ranaghatta scheme, released Rs.190 crore and it is in the completion stage.
The taluk has been provided with good roads and irrigation facilities. Works worth Rs.1800 crore had been spent on various development works in the last three years.
The construction of Hassan Airport, irrigation projects, and providing drinking water from the Hemavathi River are the decisions of the incumbent government.
World Heritage site
The inclusion of Belur Sri Chennakeshava Temple in the list of World Heritage Sites of UNESCO will not only help in the promotion of state tourism but also the development of the Belur and Halebid area.
Sri Chennakeshava temple is proud of Karnataka and its architecture is famous worldwide.The government has submitted all documents including the history and other details to the authorities concerned for including this temple in to list of World heritage sites.
Once this temple is included, this monument will become a prime tourist attraction and also get more funds for its development.The flow of domestic and foreign tourists to this temple is expected to increase.
Rs.25 crore for the Areca research center
Bommai said the coffee growers were tensed about their land now a law is being prepared to give land on lease for them.
This will help several coffee growers.The government acted swiftly when pests attacked the areca nut crop and provided relief. The state budget FY 2023-24 has released Rs.25 crore for the Areca Research Center.
The government has started buying ragi from farmers at MSP and last year 5.5 lakh tones of ragi had been purchased for Rs 638 crore.
State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP National General Secretaries Arun Singh, C.T.Ravi, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, and Minister Gopalaiah were present.
