In a swift action,the Southeast division police busted a gang of eight including seven men and a woman who would trap gullible people on the pretext of escort service and later abduct them for ransom.
The accused has been identified
as,Priya,Tirumalesh,Naveen,Kemparaj,Mukesh, Manjunath,Bharath,Dalveer Sahud.
Senior officer told reporters,The accused who have unemployed and also produced and acted in a Kannada movie which they launched on social media ( youtube) and started abduct and raid illegal gambling dens, brothels and honey trapping gullible people .
The accused using similar modus operandi,set their women gang member to trap a cab driver and his friend and took them in their own car to Nanjangud in Mysuru before demanding a ransom of Rs.5 lakh.
Meanwhile the victim’s driver managed to escape by jumping out from the moving car and alerted the Begur police.
The Electronic city police Inspector who was on night rounds,swung into action and alerted the control room and even the neighboring district police seeking help to trace the car.
Initially the police thought that the woman was victim but later she turned out to be part of the gang,who was sharing the real time location and details to the accused was found during investigation.
With intensive search and tracking the police team managed to track down the accused in a lodge in Nanjangud and rescued the victims.
The accused had called the victim’s family and demanded a ransom of Rs.5 lakh but before the ransom money could reach them,they are already been arrested.
The gang led by Thirumalesh and his seven associates had committed three such cases in Southeast division and efforts are on to track down their criminal records.
Senior officers lauded the efforts of the police team with the help of Nanjangud police for cracking the abduction and honey trap case with the combination of technology and basic policing.
