Dr.Thomas (Special Correspondent)

The success of the ‘Grama One’ scheme has proved that if technology and service mind join together it is possible to take the government facilities to reach people in rural areas, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking at the anniversary celebrations of ‘Grama One’ here on Wednesday, he said if any system has kinetic energy it will continue to move forward at an incredible speed. If it stands still then it will rust.

The lower rung works must work efficiently so that the government’s wheel of progress move continuously. Several schemes have been provided to people depending on their likes and dislikes.

Work within the ambit of the law

The CM said the government has given certain powers vested with it and the service mind is important for the program to become successful.

The purpose of implementing this scheme is to ensure that it must reach every house and that any work with half-hearted effort will not be successful.People have lost faith in the old scheme.

The scheme is required for service and livelihood. They are empowered to render services but they must work within the ambit of the law.

The ‘Grama One’ has been in force in all gram panchayats and there will be no difference with the office of the tahsildar in case of any delay in the disposal of applications. The personnel of Grama One must work with efficiency, swiftness, and honesty.

Build pro-people system

Bommai said he has got information about the good works done by the Grama One and won the confidence of people through its people-friendly approach.

The target which is 1.5 crores must be set to 3 crores next year.A good system prevails if the work is done to the expectations of the people.

Everyone must strive to start such a system. Efforts will be made to give more financial support to this scheme. Thanks to the technological revolution, services must be made available to the citizens more easily.

Additional features like internet speed and memory will be improved at the Grama One centers. This is a revolutionary scheme and it will take the government to the doorsteps of the people.

Grama One inevitable

The CM opined democracy will be successful through the ‘Grama One’ scheme and it is commendable that the staff involved in this are working efficiently.

The administrative system will be successful if there is a response at a right time.In the next five years, the Grama One will become inevitable in the state administration.

More strength will be added to this system as the aim of the government is that the facilities must reach the last man in society.

There is the effort of many people in this scheme. You must try to improve service at your level and try to do at least 10 percent of new work in your daily routine by adding new services to the Grama One.

People working here are like the bridge between the government and the people. There may be hundreds of reasons for you not to do this work but you must have one reason to render service to the poor. Respond to people in need of help with humanity”.

Awards for Grama One workers

He said the government has decided to give district-level awards to workers of Grama One and they must record their experiences.

Besides, they must resolve to work 10 percent more. The ‘Grama One’ concept is being emulated in other states and it is a good development.

They must work without giving any scope for friction. The government has taken up on a pilot basis six offices for ‘paperless’and even ‘Naada Kacheri’ will be made as paperless offices.Permission will be granted to increase the server capacity.
