he Lokayukta officials on Thursday trapped and arrested Chief Accountant of BWSSB red handed while receiving a bribe of Rs.40 lakhs rupees on behalf of his father who is MLA and chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited.
The accused,identified as Prashanth Madal,KAS officer and son of BJP MLA,Madal Virupakshappa,Channagiri constituency,Davangere district had demanded the bribe of Rs.81 lakh on behalf of his father to grant tender to procure raw material for KSDL.
IGP, Lokayukta,Dr A Subramanyeswara Rao who supervised the raid and visited the MLA office,said a team headed by SP, Lokayukta,KN Ashok,DYSP,Pramodh Kumar,PI,BG Kumaraswamy and team laid a trap based on complaint a special team swung into action and as per the trap the complainant went inside the MLA office at crescent road and our team was waiting for right time to enter inside and after getting confirmation of trap the SP lokayukta and team entered the office and trapped Prashanth who was caught red handed while receiving Rs.40 lakh cash which were brought in many bags.
During questioning it was found that the The bribe amount has been received on behalf of chairman KSDL for raw material procurement tender.
The officials completed the formalities of the raid and booked both of them under Prevention of Corruption Act for further investigations.
The officials were also found massive Stash of cash around 1.62 Crores apart from the bribe amount,which is being probed.
As of now we have arrested the accused, Prashanth Madal a BWSSB Chief accountant who was caught red handed while accepting bribe amount and further investigation is on he added.
