Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor Firhad Hakim, who is also the state’s urban and urban development minister, said, “There is a need to make a specific law. Just as there are laws on tobacco products, the state government will also bring specific laws on hookah. If it is not brought, in the coming days, the hookah bar will grow at the intersection of the neighborhood. “The hookah bar should be closed for the well-being of the new generation. During the hearing, Justice Rajashekhar Mantha said that since there is no law in the state in this regard, hookah bars can run in metropolitan and suburban areas. Even after this, if the hookah bar has to be closed, then the state or municipality will have to stop it by enacting a new law.
