The PM Narendra Modi government is aware that modern safety and security require much more than merely policing. Launched the Safe City Project in Bengaluru,a cutting-edge security system to prevent and investigate crimes and maintain surveillance.
The Safe City Project is meant to equip the country’s police with technology to face the emerging challenges of this century.
Only the police force that is fit as well as sensitive, can serve the people the best.
The technology used for Safe City Project is not only state-of-the-art but is also 100% indigenous.
The Police Technology Mission initiated by Narendra Modi ji is working with a holistic approach. The mission aims to make India’s police the best in the world.
The Bengaluru Safe City project is an initiative of the Government of India under the Nirbhaya scheme with Government of Karnataka as partner.
The project with a total investment of Rs.667 crores has number of components which achieve seamless integration of the services for early interventions in violence against women and children,which include police,medical and legal on one hand and use of technology by police to offer better and faster response to citizens in distress through wide spread deploymentof camera network across the city,state of the art command and control centre and enhanced ERSS 112 mobility through Hoysalas.
Overall the project,brings in a paradigm shift and improvement in the Policing service rendered.The Bengaluru City Police is happy to announce that safe city project is being launched today for public service by Union Minister for Home and Co-operation,Amit Shah.
Under the scheme a total of 7,500 CCTV Cameras are being installed across Bengaluru City.
The phase-I of this project is inaugurated today on 03.03.2023.
Highlights of the Project:
Installation of 4,100 Cameras completed.
CCTV Camera feeds from 4,100 Cameras located across 1640 locations in Bengaluru City can be viewed at the Command Centre on a real time basis.
A state of the art Command Centre.
Presently the feeds from Cameras can be viewed in all 8 Law & Order DCP offices and 96 Police Stations across the city.
So far 30 safety islands have been installed and operational.Bengaluru City Police is equiped with 8 Drone Cameras for public order management.
400 Body Worn Cameras issued for the field staff.As a part of the Safe City Project an Integrated Support Centre for Women & Children is being setup.This Centre is equiped with providing counselling to women and children in distress,Medical check-up,legal assistance, Video conference facility for recording 164 statements, Etc.
Critical Care Response Units are setup in 8 major Government Hospitals viz,Bowring & Lady Curzon,Vani Vilas,Victoria,K.C.General,CV Raman Nagar,Jayanagara General,ESI,Rajajinagara and Yelahanka General Hospitals.
This critical units will provide Medical treatment and
personalised counselling for women and children in distress.
Women Help Desks are being setup in all the Law & Order Police Stations to assist Women & Child victims and provide counselling.
The Help Desk operaters are trained by the expert counsellers from NIMHANS.8 state of the art Mobile Forensic Vans are being inducted to facilitate effective and expeditious Investigation in criminal cases for scientifically collecting the evidences from the scene of crime.
In order respond to the Women & Child victims,a special task force in each of the Law & Order division in the name of “RANI CHANNAMMA PADE”is formed.
The team has been specialy trained by “General Thimmayya National Academy Of Adventure”.This team is capable of rescuing people in case of emergency.
This team is also visiting various education institutions
and train the Women students in the self defence.
Bengaluru City Police under this scheme has associated with NLSIU,MC&A,NIMHANS and conducted legal awareness programmes for the Children in conflict with Law and Women in distress.
The awareness camps are being conducted regularly in Schools & Colleges and prisons.
112 Hoysala patrolling vehicle,112 Jeeps and 224 Scooter and 224 Motor bikes have been procured under the Safe City Project and were launched today by the Union Home Minister Minister,for enhancing mobility of Bengaluru City Police.

Karnataka DG-IGP, Praveen Sood,DGP,PS Sandhu,Other senior officers,as,R Hitendra,CH Pratap Reddy,B Dayanand,MA Saleem,M Chandrashekhar,Sandeep Patil,M N Anucheth with other officers and staff were present in the programme.
