13-year-old boy was killed in an LPG cylinder explosion occurred at an illegal refilling shop in Guddadahalli in Hebbal on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Mahesh,a class 6 , student of a government school .
Mahesh was son of Mallappa and Saraswathi couple who hailed from Yadgir and stayed in the city for couple of years working as daily wage labourers.
The couple have three children and Mahesh is the second child.
Since It was holiday Mahesh ventured out of the house and while playing came near the shop where the shop employee Liyakhath was refilling a cylinder illegally without any safety measures.The gas leaked causing explosion.
Mahesh who was standing close to the shop thrown away and sustained multiple injuries.passers-by rushed to his help and taken him to a near-by hospital where he succumbed .
The Hebal police rushed to the spot soon after the incident,but the accused Liyakath managed to escape.
The Hebbal police have registered a case of death due to negligence and also under various section of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Act for further investigations.
Panic gripped among the area for sometime as the explosion sound rattled the windows and doors of the adjacent houses and shops.No other people were injured in the accident, a senior officer, said .
