Delhi: Bharat Jagruti president and Bharata MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has said that women should get a rightful place in politics as well. She demanded that the Women’s Reservation Bill was pending for a long time. Kavitha spoke at a protest rally organized by Bharat Jagruti at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. She commented on this occasion that half of Dharani.. half of the sky.. half of opportunity.

“In Indian culture, women are given a lot of importance. We say Ammananna.. in which the sound of Amman comes first. The 33 percent reservation bill for women in politics has been pending for many days. Although the bill was introduced in 1996 during the then Prime Minister Deve Gowda’s tenure, it has not yet become a law. The BJP government at the center has an absolute majority. All parties will support this bill if BJP comes forward. Kavitha said, there is no rest until women’s reservation is achieved.

Leaders of various political parties supported the initiative. CPM National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Ministers from India Sabita Indra Reddy, Satyavathi Rathore, MPs Vaviraju Ravichandra, Venkatesh Neta and MLA Padmadevander Reddy along with a large number of women leaders attended the initiation and expressed their solidarity.

Speaking on this occasion, Sitaram Yechury said that the discussion on the Women’s Bill has been going on for 30 years. Without the participation of women, no system can survive. “Once we brought a bill…but it stopped halfway. The bill should be brought in the Parliament sessions from Monday. When reservation is being implemented in panchayats, why is it not being implemented in legislatures? We will stand in full support of Kavitha Diksha and the movement,” said Sitaram Yechury.
