Parked BMTC bus catches fire,BMTC bus conductor sleeping in bus charred to death

T he Byadarahalli police have initiated probe to ascertain the exact reason behind the mishap and recovered a CCTV footage installed 300 meters away from the scene of the incident.

The footage show from a distance that the fire broke out and soon engulfed the entire bus.However there was no other footage to verify the exact reason for the fire,a senior officer,said.

Though electrical short circuit suspected to be the reason behind the mishap,the police are yet to establish the fact that the trigger of the fire was from internal or external while the technical team,fire and emergency service officials and FSL teams are analyzing the scene of crime .

A senior police officer said that the victim who was sleeping inside the bus could have got up inhaling the toxic fumes emanating after the bus catches fire and could have escaped.But he was found lying and charred to death.

Senior officer told reporters A bus conductor by name Mutthaiah swamy,45 years, resident of bellary is burnt to death with 80 percent of burn injury.

The driver of the bus Prakash,39 years saw the incident first at around 4 45 am.

The driver of the bus parked the vehicle at the D group stop at around 10 30 pm yesterday night and slept in a room at the bus stop. But the deceased conductor slept in the bus.

The Post-mortem report and the FSL analysis could only reveal the exact reason,based on which further investigations will be carried.It is yet to be confirmed that the death was accidental or any foul play.

The incident also highlight the safety of the transport staff who were forced to sleep in the bus and subjected to many risks.

The authorities concerned should focus on the safety of the staff and the passengers and the vehicles should be checked and overhauled on regular basis .

A case of Fire Accident report will be taken up based on the complaint.
