Two groups belonging to different political parties clashed and pelted stones at each other over the issue of putting up banners for an event at BGS ground at Govindarajnagar on Friday.
The two groups allegedly belonged to Congress and BJP party who pelted stones at each other,and even attacked and beat up each other,before the police resort to canning to disperse the agitated groups.
Tension gripped on Friday evening for sometime when a group argued over putting up banner for the functions scheduled on Sunday.Heated argument ensued which took an ugly turn resulted in stone pelting .
Senior officer as, DCP West Laxman B Nimbargi with other officers and Police personnel rushed to spot with additional force and with the cops deployed at the ground for security,tried to pacify the crowd and later resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd .
As per the information,a women self help group event backed by few local Congress workers is scheduled to happen on Sunday on the ground and taken permission from the authorities concerned .
However on Friday a group belonging to the BJP party started to put up banners for the event but group of locals gathered and indulged in a heated argument and clashed each other by pelting stones.
Three policemen who were on duty sustained injuries in the melee.
The police have taken complaint and counter complaint in this case and are investigating.
