Relatives of the government officials who are keeping an eye on government land worth Rs.30 crores
Today, Visakhapatnam: Ruling party leaders eyed valuable lands in Visakhapatnam. As the top leaders are announcing that it will be the administrative capital and will be shifted here in September, Vaikapa leaders are taking steps with the idea of taking over the valuable lands. As part of this, they focused on the disputed lands. They have entered the arena as developers and are in the process of encroaching on lands worth Rs. In this order, the flattening of government land worth about Rs.30 crore in Kurmannapalem in Visakha became a topic of discussion. 5.38 Acres of Government land in Kurmannapalem in Survey No. 23/1. Out of which 1.60 acres was de-letted to Rebaka Appanna in 1961. A woman named Haimavathi bought 1.10 acres from him on 7th September 1966 (Document No. 255/66). The D-Patta was canceled in 1981 after a complaint was received by the authorities regarding the sale of government land. However Haimavathi sold the land to her daughter on 29th December 2004 per square yard (Document No. 5636/2004). Later, with the help of the local revenue officials and Appanna’s family, some government land adjacent to the remaining 50 cents was added and registered as 76 cents and in 2005, it was changed in the name of Haimavathi’s daughter. She converted all this land into plots and sold it to 18 people. In 2015, Gajuwaka Tehsildar Venugopal and Deputy Tehsildar Aruna canceled the two documents that were first registered. Apart from seizing the apartment already built in this place, electricity supply was stopped. While the lawsuit is going on in the court..
Another group came to the fore claiming that there was a document in 1959 for 46 cents of the canceled government land. Those who have already bought the land said that they have the right. Both factions approached the High Court. In 2017, the High Court directed both sides to prove the relevant titles in the lower court. To this extent, the group that owns 46 cents of land filed a lawsuit in the lower court. While this land case was going on in the court, a builder recently came to the fore saying that he had taken it for development from the claimants (owners who bought the plots).
Behind-the-scenes power bosses?
While the land right matter was pending in the court.. a few days ago a person named Prakash had leveled the land with JCBs. A complaint was filed against him on 28th of this month to Duvwada Police Station and Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner for obstructing the work. It is reported that the person who claims to have taken the land for development claims to be a relative of a minister from Srikakula. It seems that the brother-in-law of a minister from Uttarandhra bought 2 plots here. When the work was obstructed, they said this and resorted to threats. It seems that a leader who contested as an MP from Godavari districts and lost in the last election also discussed with the group that blocked the work. This whole affair is going on under the connivance of another minister from Uttarandhra. It is reported that the elders of the ruling party are threatening the group that filed the lawsuit to prove the title.
The authorities are not restrained
The Revenue officials are acting as if the relatives of government officials are among those who have encroached on public land . According to Gajuwaka revenue officials, the government land is 5.38 acres in survey number 23/1, out of which 1.60 acres was de-leased to Rebaka Appanna and later cancelled. Revenue officials appeared as a party when they approached the High Court in 2017 as it was in the records as government land. ‘De-Patta, it is government land as both registration documents have been canceled. It is an offense to sell the land with the deed before cancellation. These are not valid under any circumstances,’ a senior lawyer from Visakhapatnam told ‘Eenadu’.
