he state government on Tuesday posted B. Dayananda,IPS as city police commissioner.He was heading state intelligence bureau.He was among the four senior IPS officials.
A 1994 batch officer and a Bachelor degree in public administration from Ranebennur,Haveri district, Dayanand served in many important posts before assuming the city police commissioner office.
He had earlier served as the Joint Commissioner of Police,Crime and Traffic in Bengaluru City.
Dayananda worked as Additional Director General of Police,Intelligence,Karnataka State,Bengaluru since August .
He 2020.Prior to this,he was working as Additional Director General of Police,Economic Offence,CID.
Having a passion in fitness and bike riding,Mr. Dayanand also known as tech savvy officer,he started first police blogging in 2005 and also instrumental in setting up first cyber forensic lab in the state to investigate cyber related crimes.
Apart from important assignment he also served as commissioner of transport and road safety.
Apart from different posting,Dayanand also served
International Assignments,Served in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) as Civilian Police
Officer for two years between 2003-2004.
He bagged many medals including Commendation Roll from the Director General of Police Border Security Force for the specific field and/operational role performed in the anti-insurgency operations at Jammu and Kashmir while under training (1997).
Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for the year 1998 by the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the outstanding performance as Sub Divisional Police Officer.
The Medal was given on 02-04-1999 on the occasion of Police Flag Day at Bengaluru by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka.
United Nations Medal for World Peace Keeping for the service rendered as Civilian Police Officer at Kosovo (UNMIK) during the year 2003-2004.
E-Gov Award for Innovation, 2006 by the e-Gov magazine in recognition for the creation of one of the first ever Police Blogs on the internet for
dissemination of police news.
The award was presented on 23-08-2006 during
the international conference on e-governance at New Delhi.
Presidents Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of the Republic Day–2011.
Presidents Police Medal for Desingushed Service on the occasion of the Republic Day–2022.
Mr. Dayanand replaced CH Pratap Reddy who has been transferred and posted as DGP, Internal Security Division.
Dr MA Saleem,Sepcial Commissioner (Traffic), Bengaluru City and posted him as Director General of Police (DGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Units and Economic Offences,Bengaluru.
KV Sharath Chandra,ADGP, CID has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Intelligence, in place of B Dayananda.
