All kinds of facilities including dual desks and green boards have been provided under the Mana Uru-Mana Badi Scheme in Dhonur Primary School of Dharmapuri Mandal of Jagityala District. There are 101 students and only one teacher is working here. According to the rules of education department there should be four teachers based on the number of children.

There are 130 students in Telugu medium and 200 students in English medium in Savaran High School in Karimnagar district center. English and social subjects should have two each, but there is only one. Here, our village-mana school is being worked on with Rs.57 lakhs.

come onSchools in the state will resume on the 12th of this month. In this background, the Education Department is organizing the Acharya Jayashankar Badibata program from the 3rd of this month for the enrollment of students in government schools. Under the Mana Uru-Mana Badi program, facilities are being provided in 9,145 schools with Rs.3,497 crores in the first phase, the education department has ordered the officials to do house-to-house publicity on the issues such as introduction of English medium, distribution of uniforms, textbooks and notebooks to the students of classes 6-10 this time for free. Even though everything is fine, in the background of shortage of teachers, the staff of the education department is struggling to go around the villages. The teachers themselves say that there is a situation in some villages where the villagers are not able to give an answer when they mention this matter. As many as 15,000 teaching posts are vacant in 26,074 government schools across the state. The government has announced in the assembly that 13 thousand vacancies will be filled in the education department by March 2022. There are up to 10,000 teacher vacancies. TET was held in June 2022 to fill those vacancies. Even though a year has passed, at least no notification has been given for teacher appointments. At least no permission was obtained from the finance department to fill up the vacancies.

There are no educational volunteers

Till March 2020, 12 thousand education volunteers were working in government schools. Officials used their services wherever there were vacancies. They will not be reinstated from last three years. The teachers unions have been questioning how the shortage of subject experts can be solved without the promotion of qualified teachers as school assistants and education volunteers but to no avail. Teaching another subject with a teacher who is an expert in one subject, sending those working in primary schools to high schools on deputation…Teaching lessons with the same teacher even if they are medium of Telugu and English…These are the experiments the education department is experimenting with. Many teachers have already brought it to the notice of the superiors that parents are questioning how they can get education without teachers in these conditions.

6,392 co-educational schools

Only one teacher is working in 6,392 primary schools across the state. If they take leave, many places have to give school leave. The teachers unions have always agreed to give at least two teachers. No more sanitation workers to clean toilets and sweep classrooms.

How to give lessons without teachers..

– Katakam Ramesh, General Secretary, TRTF

It is a good result that Rs.3,500 crore is being spent in the first phase to improve the facilities in the schools. After all, without teachers, who gives lessons? What should parents answer if they ask about the same thing? At least 10,000 education volunteers will be appointed temporarily to help teaching. It is enough to spend Rs. 150 crores for that. In that direction, the education department should take a decision soon. At the same time notification of new appointments should be issued.
