If the elders of the ruling party and the leaders of that party touch it, even the hills will be hollowed out. Even the rarest geo-heritage has to be endangered
The green hills are being crushed,
the very existence of the red clay dunes is at risk,
the anarchy during Vaikapa’s four-year rule
reveals the speakers in ‘ETV Echo’.
Today, Visakhapatnam: If the elders of the ruling party and the leaders of that party touch it, even the hills will be empty. Even the rarest geo-heritage has to be endangered. The city of Visakha is standing as a silent witness to the Nirwakas who destroyed Rushikonda and pushed the red mud dunes to the brink of destruction. No one expected that such incidents would happen for four years in the ‘City of Destiny’, which is named after its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. To what extent the destruction going on in Visakhapatnam is within the eyes of the Jagan government and Vaikapa leaders is now the question that is driving the environmentalists away. On Thursday, ‘ETV Pratidhwani’ organized a discussion program on the destruction in Visakhapatnam. Environmental activist Sohan Hatangadi and GVMC (Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation) Corporator Peethala Murthyadav expressed their views.
You can’t do as you like

Visakhapatnam has many historical and geographical heritage sites from Rushikonda to Bhimili. Along with Thotlakonda, Pavuralakonda and Buddharama, red clay mounds of about 20 thousand years ago are in this row. As the city expands and layouts come up around them, their existence is now threatened. It seems that the authorities do not have proper understanding about the red mud dunes. Those who work for one or two years and leave do not think about these things. We have all been here since childhood. We are looking closely at the historical significance of these. Earlier it was not agreed to build a tourist building here. Constructions should not be allowed in such places. This is a very sensitive area. VMRDA (Visakha Greater Region Development Corporation) has become a business entity. What is the layout of adjacent red mud dunes? They do not have the right to destroy the immediate area, whatever the place belongs to. It is their responsibility to protect. In the future, if constructions are carried out here and people come, the natural gift will disappear. Everyone should follow the rules of CRZ.
Excavation beyond limits

Visakhapatnam is known as a peaceful city. In such a place, the hills from Rushikonda to Hayagriva are being crushed. All for real estate business. Destruction is now taking place at the red clay dunes. Rushikonda is a place with a unique identity. Blueflag certified. In such a place, they applied for a plan in the name of tourism project for the Chief Minister’s camp office. We filed cases in High Court and NGT on this. A committee appointed by the High Court has given a report that there have been violations on this hill. Without recognizing the uniqueness of the red mud dunes, the state government has destroyed them and is doing real estate business nearby. In Kothavalasa, JVagraharam and Nidugattu villages of Bhimili, there are D. Pattas open for land acquisition. By taking away those D.Patta lands from the farmers that the government will take your lands.. Some Vaikapa leaders have already made internal agreements. There is no need to lay out VMRDA layout at red clay dunes. Developing Visakha is not about doing real estate business. All greenery has been destroyed in AU. Trees were removed in 70 acres and water sources were covered. The High Court ruled on this. They are looking to turn the Mudasarlova reservoir area into a business center and give it to Alludu, a key Vaikapa leader. In the past, no rulers had ever destroyed the hills and coastal areas in such a way. People of Visakha are against this. Let’s stop the destruction together with them. The High Court ruled on this.
