Abhijit Ray, Kolkata: – Taking advantage of good spell of rainfall recently in Kolkata, many NGO’s have once gain launched tree plantation drives in the city of joy. Recently NGO “ SNEHER SATHE TRUST’ owned by Dip Sarkar planted 150 plants at Kalindi area of North Kolkata on last Sunday. Owing to along dry spell in the region, many of us had stopped planting trees. But the recent spell of rains has once again created favourable atmosphere and we have been planting trees.” Said Dip Sarkar, owner of the NGO. Another NGO “ LAKSHYA” was the one of the main organisers of the event. Local TMC Councillor Suchayita Das, TrinathDas,Secretary of WBTMCP . NGO “LAKSHYA” has set a target of planting 10000 saplings at Kolkata and its nearby areas. TMC Counsellor Suchayita Das told the news correspondent that “As of now, there is enough moisture in the soil which will help the plants to grow and hopefully, both the NGO’s will soon complete their targets. It is a great initiative for the society and we really need to have more greens at Kalindi area”. NGO “ SNEHER SATHE TRUST” also have arranged food packets for poor children’s and that was a really a noble initiative. Bengali TV serial artists Rupsa, Manasi, Ujjwal and Sourav was present in the event.
