Sultanpet market shut against assault on shopkeeper agitated protestors demand arrest of accused

ension gripped at sultanpet the one of the busiest commercial hub in the city market,as shop owners shut down their business following an incident of shop keeper attacked by goons and his associate on Thursday.

The shop keepers shouted slogans demanding strict action against the attacker and also security cover for shop keepers from goons.

As the situation went out of control the police swung into action and arrested the accused identified as Raju and charged him under attempt to murder.

Lakshman Nimbargi,DCP, West Division,along with other officers and staff visited the spot and met the protestors and after getting information about the incident he addressed the agitated shop keepers to pacify them to end the protest and resume the business activities.

He also said the police are always for your help the incident was very unfortunate but we have taken necessary action and filed an FIR against the accused and arrested him Nimbargi,said.

He requested the shop keepers to call 112 toll free number for any emergency response the police are with you and will help you in all the time to maintain law and order, Nimbargi, said.

Requesting people to end the protest and resume business as it is affecting other people who are depending upon the shops.

It may be recalled that the accused identified as Raju beat up a shop keeper over trivial row.

Shop keepers complain that goons and antisocial elements harass them demanding money and attack the shop keepers to instill fear.
