A 47-year-old home maker who tried to sell the food through online food aggregator has been cheated by cyber fraudsters and made away with Rs.21,045 on Saturday.
The victim,Sunita jain,resident of RR Nagar wanted to register in Zomato to sell the food she prepare.While searching for the details,an unidentified person introducing himself as customer care executive asking her to pay Rs.10 towards registration through credit or debit card.
When Ms.Jain said she does not use any of them, the caller offered to help and asked her to download the APP from play store and pay Rs.10 through UPI.
As soon as she paid the fee,a sum of 21.045 has been deducted from her account.She tried to call the number but it was not reachable.
Realizing that she has been cheated,Ms.Jain filed a complaint with the police who have taken up the case charging the accused under IT act.
The police are now trying to track down the accused through the money transfer trail .
