he RM Nagar police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old ab driver for blackmailing a home maker with her personal details,which he had discussed while travelling in the cab.
The victim who booked the cab from Indira Nagar to Banasawadi,was chatting with her friend discussing her personal issues and seeking suggestion.
The accused Kiran Kumar overheard the conversation and later called the victim posing as her childhood friend and offered his help to resolve the issue .
Trusting him, the victim agreed and the accused even took her into confidence and sought financial help for an emergency situation.
The victim transferred Rs.22 lakh but the accused started demanding more money.When the victim said she did not have any money, the accused asked her to hand over her valuables so that he could pawn and get the money.
The victim reluctantly agreed to handover the gold valuables for which the accused came to collect.
The victim shocked to see the cab driver and when asked the accused started blackmailing her with the personal details threatened to share it with her family and even on social media .
Scared of this the victim handed over 960 grams of gold total worth Rs.60 lakh.
However the accused continued to demand more money from the victim,unable to bear the harassment she approached the police and filed a complaint .
Based on the complaint the police laid a trap and arrested the accused and recovered the gold valuables which he had pawned and spent on lavish lifestyle .
DCP,East division,Dr Bheemashankar S Guled, requested the members of the general public not to discuss or share any personal information in public places to avoid such situations.
