Abhijit Ray:In a disturbing incident in Kolkata’s Kalindi area, a girl wasslapped andmolested bytwo unknown men. The girl, however, got terrified by the shocking incident which took place at around 6.45 pm on the road of Kalindi Plot area and started shouting for help. Few of the residents came out to rescue her. In between, both accused left the place. The victim said on August 13, evening at around 6.45pm, she was walking with her friend when two unknown drunk men started harassing her. She has shot back when the tormentors started slapping and touching her.The question remains, are women safe anywhere? It is time for authorities to take note of such incidents of harassment and eve-teasing seriously and take proper action against the perpetrators because indifference is what leads to such incidents escalating to more serious crimes against women.
