PI payment made to tea vendor led the police to crack down on the gang of tender coconut thieves.

The Jayanagar police on thursday arrested Goutham, Raghu and Manikantha,habitual offenders involved in series of thefts targeting tender coconuts which were stored on footpaths and covered with tarpaulin .

The accused would use the goods autorickshaw with masked registration number plates and move around the city in the night time to steal coconut.

Using this modus operandi the accused had stolen 15,000 tender coconuts including 1500 coconuts from a vendor near RV road metro station on August 7.

Based on a complaint, the Jayanagar police analysed 60 CCTV cameras to track down the accused.It was difficult case with no clue as the accused have masked the registration number of the vehicle and covering themselves with hoodies .

However in one of the CCTV footage the accused were stopped on roadside for a tea break and paid the vendor through UPI.

A team of police rushed to the vendor and obtained the details of the payment which helped them to pin down the accused .

Senior officers as,Commissioner of Police,B Dayananda,Addl CP West,Satheesh Kumar,DCP South,P Krishnakant,has appreciated the Jayanagar police inspector and his whole team for cracking the case and said that the police are contacting the other vendors who have losts their tender coconuts and not complained so far.
