The Girinagar police on Saturday arrested a habitual offender and his associate who were involved in robbing a chain from a home maker while she was returning from walk few days ago.
Senior officer told reporters,The accused Manjunath and his associate Yatish were arrested soon after they returned from MM hills to perform religious vows.The police team recovered 22 grams of gold chain worth Rs. 3.04 lakh and three bikes from them.
During investigation it was revealed that Manjunath a habitual offender involved in series of chain snatching . The accused was arrested earlier in a similar offence and released on bail recently .
The accused Manjunath,used to take religious vows to his deity and wanted money.The accused snatched the chain and pawned it to arrange money for his temple visit .
However based on the complaint,the police analyzed the CCTV footage from in an around the area before identifying the accused and kept a tab on him .
He was arrested as soon as he returned from the temple he added.
