A 57-year-old woman who slipped and sustained severe injuries due to rash and negligence of the BMTC driver on June 6 succumbed to her injuries at Victoria hospital on Tuesday.
The victim,Shivamma,had come to Bengaluru from Mandya and got down at Satellite bus stand and took the BMTC electric bus to Mudalapalya.
She got into a parked bus on Platform No.1 and asked the passengers whether the bus would go to Mudalapalya.
When the passengers replied in negative Shivamma was trying to got down from the middle door when the driver moved the bus.
Shivamma lost balance and slipped under the moving bus and got her left leg crushed.She was rushed to the hospital where she was being treated .
The driver initially agreed to bear the medical expenses but refused following which Ravikumar,son of Shivamma,filed a complaint with the Kengeri traffic police three days later.
The Kengeri traffic police on June 12 booked a case against the BMTC driver charging him under section 279 ( rash and negligent driving ) and section 338 ( Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).
The police now charged the driver under 304a ( Causing death by negligence) for further investigations.
