Over 200 Social media staff members working round the clock to redressal the issues of Bengaluru Citizens

The Number of complaints raised online in the last few days are on the rise with over 200 social media staff members working round the clock to redressal the issues .

This is due to people to only save time and energy visiting the station but also getting immediate response to their issues .

On an average the social media wing gets 10 to 12,000 complaints per month with people sending information, grouses and complaints along with the CCTV footage and video footage.

This online complains are monitored regularly by senior police officials including city police commissioner, which compelled the jurisdictional police to take up the issue on priority basis.

Any delay in taking action will escalate the issue in different levels and hence all the complaints, information of any kind will be taken with importance,a senior official handling the media wing, said.

He further said a 50 members staff will work in three shifts to attend the calls and another team of 50 to 60 police personnel will monitor,dispatch and coordinate with the complaints at the station level .

The entire process is transparent and accountable and being monitored by the higher ups at different level.

Contrary to this if the complaint which is non cognizable in nature is filed at the police station,the staff may receive the complaint but there is no guarantee of follow up .

The social media wing launched to improve the police public interaction is a getting a lots of appreciation from the members of general public but also more work for the police at the station level .

“ This is going to be a neusense for the police personnel who are forced to take up extra work apart from their routine duty, a police officer said .

“ We are scared of social media posts nowadays instead of real crime due to its repercussions “, senior officer on condition of anonymity,said .

Senior officers admitted that the complaints are on the rise.This means that there is more awareness and people are making us of the facility.

But this facility is only for the cases which need immediate attention,like road rage and other serious cases which warrant immediate attention..

We also tend to get frivolous messages like hi and hello which are not required,he added .
