BBMP issues a strict ban or plaster of paris idols for Ganesh Chaturthi;BBMP, police review preparedness ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi,63 Single Window centres to give clearance

I n an effort to ensure peaceful and eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi,the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has banned the use of plaster of Paris of Paris,Chemical colors and thermocol in the making of Ganesha hold and directed the officials to book criminal cases against the violators .

The BBMP has also made provision for the speedy disposal of the applications through a single window system, taking other agencies including police, BESCOM,fire ad emergency services and pollution control board,into consideration for issuing NOC.

The BBMP has taken several measures during a meeting held recently to discuss the measures to ensure the pollution free and eco-friendly festival.

The officials concerned have been instructed to visit the idol makers take measures against use of POP, chemical colors and thermocol in the idols .

Cases should be booked against the violators and seized materials should be disposed as per the scientific methods.

The Zonal Commissioner apart from appointing the Nodal officer , should supervise the entire process of making till immersion.

The officials should promote and advertise the use of eco friendly idols and discourage and create awareness against use of banned items.

The officials concerned should ensure smooth process of immersions and arrange transportation for the big idols to carry to immersion,if necessary .

The BBMP zonal Commissioners have been directed to appoint a nodal officer to inspect the area and sensitize the people. the applications for issuing the permission for Installations should be submitted at the office of the AEE.

The lakes and tanks ear marked for immersion coming under BBMP jurisdiction should be identified and maintained,ensuring dry and waste collection teams, provisions of better lighting facility, barricades,sound system,NDRF teams and a team of swimmers should be deployed at each tanks and lakes to ensure smooth process.
