Cauvery row:Bandh observed peacefully in Bengaluru; commuters affected;Three hotels vandalised during Bengaluru bandh

The bandh in Bengaluru on tuesday largely remained peaceful as most of the residents stayed at home and schools and colleges remained shut.

While public transport such as BMTC,Metro trains, some autos and cabs were seen plying as usual, passengers were few and far between.

While protestors gathering in other parts of the city such as the Town Hall, Mysore Bank Circle and Jnanabharathi were either detained and or redirected to Freedom Park.

Vatal Nagaraj and his associates were detained at Raj Bhavan when they went to stage protest he alleged slammed the state government was trying to contain protest and using police.

The protest continue and on Wednesday the protestors will lay siege to CM residence,he said.

Earlier Kannada Rakshana Vedike president Narayana gowda and his associates were detained at Gandhi nagar when they marched towards CM residents to protest.even farmers leader kuruburu shanthkumar was also detained at mysore bank circle.

City Police Commissioner B.Dayananda said that over 1000 people have been detained so far related to Bangaluru bandh and released later .

Except a stray incident during the bandh,no cases of stone pelting to damage vehicles has been reported from in and around the city .

Some of the shops and establishments were voluntarily shut the shop to support the bandh.The buses and private transport was normal and the police deployment ensure safety.

The police continue to deploy security measures as the prohibitory orders was on till Tuesday midnight. However after accessing the situation , the next course of action of extending the prohibitory orders will be taken,he said .

As many as three hotels situated in Jayanagar 4th block were vandalized after a group of protesters pelted stones and smashed the glass window panes demanding the hotel to shut the business on Tuesday morning.

Panicked customers ran out soon the group created ruckus and threw chairs after barging into the hotel and pelted stones to smash glass windows of Udupi Hub and Nataraj Chole Bhature ( NCB)and Annapoorna hotel.

one of the women customer sustained minor injuries during stone pelting.Furniture including chairs tables and TV and food prepared for the customers were destroyed .

The protesters soon escaped on the bikes they had come.The entire attack was recorded on CCTV installed in the hotel.The Police rushed to the spot but by then the attackers had escaped .

Senior police officials visited the spot and initiated probe to identify the accused involved.The hotel owners rued that the association and even the police and administration had assured us to carry out the routine business assuring security,but they failed to provide any kind of security .

The hotel comes under Essential commodities and should be allowed despite any for of protest,a manager of a hotel,told the police.

DCP,South Division, Rahul Kumar Shahpurwad, ordered probe and assured strict action will be taken. Meanwhile a Three BJP leaders including MLA and MLCs tried to organize a rally were taken into preventive detention.

This was followed by a BJP members staging a protest in front of the DCPs office for sometime .

Another bandh has been called for September 29 by pro-Kannada organisations.
