oday,Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah along with Deputy Chief Minister,DK Shivakumar,Transport and Muzrai Minister,Ramalinga Reddy flagged-off new Karnataka Sarige buses,AC Sleeper buses and Non AC Sleeper (PALLAKKI) buses and Upgraded new point to point buses.
KSRTC-Presently has,

Villages connected: 19076.
Services operated per day: 7517.
Buses held: 8187.
• Kms operated per day: 26.89 lakh km.
Passengers carried per day: 32.28 passengers.
Shakti passengers per day: 17 to 18 lakhs.
Staff employed: 34002.
KSRTC has launched and implemented the ambitious flagship scheme of the Government ‘Shakti-free travel for women’, on 11th June-2023.
1 KSRTC is providing free transport services to women which is a great step towards strengthening women empowerment in the state.
Around 70.73 crore women of the state have benefited from this scheme since its implementation.
The number of passengers has increased after the implementation of the Shakti scheme and KSRTC has increased daily operated kilometers to 27 lakh to cater to the needs of the public.
KSRTC has implemented several employee welfare measures.Notable among them is the “Saarige Vidya Chethana”-scholarship to fund the education of employees’children under Vidya Sahaya Nidhi.
For the years 2022-23 and 2023-24,scholarship amount of Rs.55 lakh has been disbursed to 1093 applicants and the process is in progress.
To promote mass public transportation and provide better services to the passengers, KSRTC has planned to induct 798 new buses in the current year.
As a first step in this direction, 40 non-AC sleeper buses-“PALLAKKI” and 100 Karnataka Saarige buses are being launched today.
KSRTC has introduced its A/c Sleeper buses in 2011 but are not branded till now,currently introduced Non A/C Sleeper buses are branded as Pallakki and “Happiness is travelling” tagline given.Happiness” is personified as human being.

BS-VI norm 197 horse power (HP) engines.
Ergonomically designed 30 sleeper berths.
FDSS [Fire Detection & Suppression System].
Facilities for mobile & laptop charging provided.
Mobile holder.
Warm white LED reading lights provided.
LED display of berth numbers.
Public Address System and Audio speakers provided.
Digital clock, foot step LED.
Shoe rack beneath lower berth and pillow provided.
Rear view camera to assist the driver.

Buses constructed on Leyland 210″ WB Viking chassis (10.5 Mtr).
BS-VI norm 197 horse power (HP) engines.
Ergonomically designed 50+1 seats.
Front dash camera & rear view camera to assist the driver.
FDAS [Fire Detection & Alarm System], vehicle location & tracking.
Electronic vehicle stability control.
Till now,KSRTC was operating similar looking point-to-point and long distance express buses. Presently,a newly designed model of buses for point-to-point buses is being introduced, in with 10 such new design buses being launched today.

Bigger boot space with more luggage carrying capacity.
KSRTC Employees Personnel Accident Insurance Scheme details:
KSRTC has introduced Rs.1.00 crore unique accident insurance relief scheme which is first time in the history of STUS of our country to provide financial stability to the dependents of the employees who lost their life during Ion duty or off duty accidents.
Employees who become disabled in accidents will also be provided insurance relief.
KSRTC has implemented Rs.50 lakhs accident relief insurance scheme with United India Insurance and Rs.50 lakhs insurance scheme with SBI under Corporate Salary Package.
Under this scheme if the employees die during on duty or off duty accidents their dependants will be paid accident compensation of Rs.1 crore.
After implementation of this scheme,17 employees have died in on duty or off duty accidents.
So far, 3 dependents of the deceased employees have been distributed with accident relief compensation of Rs.1 crore each.
• In today’s programme,4 dependents of the each deceased employees will be distributed Rs.1 crore accident relief amount.
1.Ravi S Assistant Artisan,Sira depot,Tumkur division has died on 27/01/2023 in rail accident.
2.G.C Suresh, Driver cum Conductor, Token no: 10686 of Chitradurga depot,Chitradurga division has died in an on duty accident on 17/03/2023.
3.Nithin M Technical Assistant of Sathagalli depot Mysore division has died by falling in canal by leg slippage on 03/05/2023.
4.Yathish H.P Driver cum Conductor Token no.956 of K.R Nagara depot, Mysore division has died on duty on 04/05/2023 by falling from the bus in a road turn.
