Priest and his sister booked for humiliating and abusing minor dalit girl when she went to fetch water from public tap near temple

The Ijoor police are on the lookout for a priest and his sister for humiliated and abused her with racist slur a 13-year-old girl from Schedule caste when she went to fetch water from the public tap near a temple,where the accused was working as priest .

The accused had even assaulted the uncle of the girl and his friend when they questioned the priest.

The victim, Bhavana on Monday went to get a pot of drinking water from the public tap situated in the premises of Maramma Temple Channamanahalli village.

The accused identified as Kumar Kenchappa and his sister Yashodha confronted the victim,objecting to her visiting the temple and desecrated place .

They abused her with racist slur and warned her to stay away from the temple before snatching and throwing the pot she had carried .

The victim came home crying and narrated the incident, prompting her uncle Prasanna Kumar,to go to the temple and questioned.

Prasanna Kumar along with his friend Jaya Kumar when confronted the accused priest repeated the racist slur and warned them to stay away from temple and assaluted them with a wooden stick and pelted stones.

Passers-by rushed to their help and shifted the injured Prasanna and Jayakumar to hospital before alerting the police.The police rushed to the spot but the priest and his sister managed to escape.

The police are now registered a case against the accused charging them under various sections of SC ST (Prevention of atrocities),act and also under assault and criminal intimdation.
