After crack down on tabacco consumers at sellers in the city,the police on Saturday launched a poster campaign to launch campaign against anti smoking in and around the city.
The aim is to strictly ensure strict enforcement against sale and consumption of tobacco products at public places in the city and create awareness along with promoting healthy lifestyle among the people,B. Dayananda, city police commissioner,told media persons.
All the jurisdictional police have been given a set of posters to be pasted at the public places including, cafes,pubs,hotels and restaurants to create awareness among the general public.
The eateries and hotels and restaurants and pubs should get a license for allowing smoking and follow certain condition including having a separate place as smoking zone.This is to ensure that non smokers are not subjected to any kind of harassment,he said.
We had earlier this year launched a drive against smoking in public places and booked shops and commercial establishments under The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (COTPA) Act.FIRs have been registered against the violators.
In addition to this the campaign is also against sale of liquor and tobacco to minors.The police visited the shops and cafes,bars and restaurants to advise and warn the shops keepers against the ill effects selling banned items to minors.
