In a case of fence eating crop,the Jnanabharathi police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old police constable who used to attend patrolling duty in day time only to identify his targets and commit burglaries after work hours.
Senior officer told reporters,The accused Yallappa sanna Sharanappa was addicted to online cricket betting and incurred huge loss up to Rs.20 lakh.
In order to repay loan he ganged up with a house break theft offender while he was working in Banashankari.
The duo attempted to break open a finance company and abandoned the plan as the burglary alarm triggered.
However the police managed to track down the accused who confessed that Yallappa was involved following which he was arrested and suspended from service .
While the police filed chargesheet and pending inquiry, Yallappa got his suspension revoked and posted to Devanahalli station only to continue his criminal activities.
He had committed theft at post office in Chikkajala In August 8 this year,and a house break in Chandra Layout in September before committing another house break theft in Jnanabharathi police station limits in October.
Senior officer told reporters,Based on the complaint, a team of police led by Inspector Ravi MS and PSI,Bhaga
vantray Patil tracked down the accused in Banashankari where he was staying.
The accused used to tamper the bike registration number plates to hoodwink the police.However Mr. Patil analyzed over 50 CCTV footage which led him to yallappa’s location,The police with the help of bike photograph cross checked with the localities before zeroing in on Yallappa.
After he was arrested Yallappa threatened to commit suicide and even offered money to the police to let him go .
However He was taken to his native Ballari town to recover the stolen booty including 4.13 kilos of silver articles and 26 grams of gold valuables which he has pawned and the money he used to repay the loan said a senior officer.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,B Dayananda, has appreciated Addl CP West,Satheesh Kumar,DCP West,Girish S,ACP,Bharath Reddy,PI,Ravi MS,PSI,Bhagvantray Patil,and other staff for the commendable job done by them a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
