J oint Commissioner of Police,traffic along with senior police officials on Wednesday inaugurated the rectified blackspot on NICE to minimize the number of accidents and fatalities .
A 500 meter stretch of road on NICE road near Purvankara apartment in Talaghattapura had witnessed as many as 9 fatal accidents killing 11 people and injuring nine others in the last three years.
The police recorded this killer stretch as blackspot among the 60 recorded in and around the city and conducted a scientific study and roped in NICE management to rectify the perticular stretch.
The work was taken over for few days and as per the plan around 4 meters of the road was elevated to make it more visible .
The road was like a valley creating poor visibility to the motorists.Due to this the high speed vehicle would lose control and led to accident,a senior police officer,part of the inspection team,said.
Apart from the elevation,beam guards on either side of the road,high mask beams,CCTV cameras,speedo meters and solar lights at the stretch .
The work for the remaining 59 blackspots are at various stages,MN Anucheth,Joint commissioner of police, traffic,who is supervising the project said.
