Wall painter arrested by Kothanur Police for growing six feet tall ganja plant at the entrance of his house

The Kothanur police on tuesday arrested a 33-year-old wall painter for growing six feet tall ganja plant at the entrance of his house situated in Bhairathi village.

The accused Ram Ashish,hailed from North India was staunch devotee of Bholenath (Shiva) and said that he would present the bog ( offering) to his deity everyday as part of the ritual .

He was growing the plant for the last three months and placed it at the entrance of his house.

Based on a tip off,a team led by PSI,Jesudas,raided the house and arrested Ashish and seized the plant worth Rs.15,100 .

The accused despite knowing that it is illegal growing the banned substances and violating the law and causing health hazard, senior officer said adding that the accused has been booked under NDPS for further investigation.
